The Keys marketplace from Livio is a B2B tool for auto OEMs to execute and manage business deals with various content and app partners.
App developers and content owners can submit deals to Livio’s Keys marketplace soliciting OEMs to engage in business. Getting your apps in cars is hard. Getting paid is harder. The Keys marketplace creates opportunities for customized business models and deals with autos.
OEMs manage various content and app partners across the globe. OEMs also have a variety of technology solutions to get content in vehicles. The Keys marketplace is a tool to manage the technology and business models for content and apps going into cars, worldwide, regardless of the connect technology.
Consumers get promotions, premium upgrades, and free trials of the apps and content. The business model is straightforward: when consumers purchase, apps get their revenue, and commission is paid to OEMs. Apps and content partners deal directly with multiple OEMs for promotions and co-marketing. The Keys marketplace handles the transaction but Livio states that the control is completely with OEMs, apps, and content owners.
This is a well-organised resource. We have currently no data on its popularity nor its effectiveness in enabling developers to actually penetrate target OEMs. Any feedback is welcome, so please comment on your experiences and views. It’s going to be interesting to see how marketplaces (including API marketplaces) evolve, and whether there is potential for connected car specific ones to sustain themselves.
